Summer jobs, midterms and such

I have finally kicked myself in the butt and started actually working this semester. It turns out that watching TV does not help you learn the law.

My first accomplishment was getting a summer position. Technically, a professor got the position for me. On the basis of his recommendation, a judge hired me to extern for her without and interview. This is good news for me because even though I have a snappy pinstripe suit, I tend to be very nervous at interviews and that does not make me look like a good hiring choice. The downside to my externship is that it does not pay. That means that in May, I'm gonna have to look for a paying job. I do have fast-food experience and I hear that In an Out Burger starts at $9/hr.

My second accomplishment was getting through yet another mid-semester midterm. For some reason, this midterm was even more stressful than last semester's midsemester midterm. It is nearly impossible to memorize every rule of Contracts (there are tons) while also keeping up on reading, writing Memos for Legal Writing and trying to keep up with chores, bills, etc. I actually had a dream that I screamed at the Dean over the school's policy of requiring midterms in 1 semester classes. Both professors who were forced to give us midterms were completely opposed to the idea. It's pretty much unheard of in law school.
